If I were a progressive, I would-
Here I go again, heading off into territory where I am not welcome. Progressives will not listen to a conservative, so this post could be considered futile.
However, it is important to point out when the opposing party is screwing up.
Let’s look at some current news, and consider what progressives should do.
Thank God that the Christmas Bomber was NOT successful. I am so proud that people on these planes are taking action today. No longer will people sit like sheep and allow al Qaeda to kill thousands.
23 year old Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab, who said he was directed by al Qaeda, tried to blow up an airliner landing in Detroit on Christmas.
Passengers snatched Abdul; either while he was igniting an explosive device, or after he lit it, (or the device malfunctioned, fact not known while I was writing this) and passengers dragged Abdul away from other passengers.
One of the passengers who saved this plane was Jasper Schuringa.
I am looking forward to hearing more stories from the passengers of this flight, because we have some heros created on Christmas Day.
President Obama is keeping inform of the situation from a safe distance in Hawaii. If anything else were to happen, President Obama is ready to act.
Now, if I were a progressive, AND I WAS BEING CONSISTENT, I would report this airliner story like this:
Because YOU KNOW that if President Obama were a republican, progressives would report this story like this:
“..That dam President Obama is making us LESS SAFE. Look, we were almost attacked. Obama is letting the US military HELP the Yemen government, which is pissing off al Qaeda, and now we have MORE terrorists. We now have terrorists coming from Nigeria. Obama is creating MORE terrorists with his actions.
Yemen didn’t attack us on 9/11.
So why is Obama screwing around with Yemen. President Obama is making us LESS safe and creating MORE terrorists..”
If progressives were being consistent. If everything that they say wasn’t for political gain, that is how they would report this story.
However, (you and I both know) because Obama is a democrat, progressives will sit quietly about any US military actions in Yemen.
Or, the progressive will claim that Obama is being proactive in fighting the terrorists- in Yemen. (Which translates: Progressives being proactive is GOOD; Conservatives being proactive is BAD.)
Which is the point of this editorial. We are taking a look at what progressives SHOULD do to correct the problems that they currently have.
To fix the political problems, progressives should vote for republican candidates in 2010 to send a message to the democrats that the progressives are NOT happy. Vote republican..!!
(OK, that was a little joke, there. Let’s continue...)
If I were a progressive, I would:
Ask: If people on my side are unhappy with this health bill because it doesn’t contain a public option, because it will only cover 12 million people and leave 17 million people uninsured and paying a $750 dollar fine / tax. If this bill doesn’t stop insurance companies from raising their fees...
WHY THE HELL ARE WE PASSING THIS BILL..??
We know that the republicans will beat us over the head, in 2010, with aspects of this health bill. (A bill that many of us do not care for, anyway.) So why are we putting our leadership and power on the line for a bill that we do not care for..??
“..Well, it’s a start..” is the reply from some progressives.
It is..??
From my understanding, written into the bill by Harry Reid, (in the middle of the night, of course) is a provision that no future congress can change, alter, or drop aspects of sections of this bill.
So how can this be “a start” if no future congress can “change it”..??
This bill is the whole ball of wax, my friends. And it is one- very: waxy ball.
If I were a progressive I would drop this health bill and have my congress write up a NEW health bill that better fits what Americans want. This bill would NOT take effect until 2014, so what is the freaking rush..??
If I were a progressive, I would:
Listen to the Chairman of Al Gore’s presidential campaign who warns:
“..Either we plot a more moderate, centrist course or risk electoral disaster not just in the upcoming midterms but in many elections to come..”
Bill Daley, a lifelong democrat who Chaired Al Gore’s campaign; reminds progressives that FIVE democrats are either switching sides and becoming republicans, or dropping out of politics.
President Obama’s approval rating is at 49%. However, more important; only 41% of independents say they approve of the president, and these people got Obama elected.
A recent Gallup generic congressional ballot shows republicans leading democrats in almost EVERY race, across the country.
If I were a progressive, I would heed this advice. If the democrats do not reconnect with the American people, AND FAST; they risk losing all power in congress. They will never pass any of the other ideas that they cherish, and the only accomplishment achieved will be a crappy health bill that many progressives do not care for.
If I were a progressive, I would:
Heed the advice coming from the Black Community.
A recent poll on AOL’s “Black Voices” states that 55% of Black people believe that President Obama and Attorney General Holder do a LOT OF TALKING, but not much acting.
Progressives LOVE to claim that they represent minorities. However, that “claim” might be slipping away, FAST.
Dr. Boyce Watkins, founder of “Your Black World Coalition” gives President Obama some advice:
“...(President Obama), please stop giving us the same answers: That "rising tide will raise all ships" argument is played out, Mr. President. Intelligent black folks with a critical eye on politics know when they've heard the same thing multiple times. You can't come off like a broken record.
If you can't make policies for any particular group, why does it seem that you are doing it for everyone else? I've seen special committees/task forces for the automobile industry, the protection of Israel, the gay/lesbian/bi-sexual community, the environment, bankers, immigrants, etc. Perhaps mentioning a task force to deal with the black unemployment gap or mass incarceration of African Americans might at least appease some of your Black critics..”
Progressives are quickly losing their ability to say that “they care” for the minorities if 55% of the Black Community is not happy.
If I were a progressive, I would ask myself if Global Warming laws, and a badly written health care bill, are what the American people want?
Maybe the American people are concerned about JOBS..??
Just maybe..??
Why would a conservative like myself take the time to write an editorial like this..??
Simple...
(In reality) Progressives will never listen to a conservative. If they read this editorial, they will scoff at it. (Which makes for a very rewarding: “I told you so” in about 10 months from now.)
(Psychologically speaking) An editorial like this could cause progressives to become MORE determined to stick to their current agenda.
(The obvious) If Americans are moving away from President Obama and the progressives, it would be nice to have these people moving towards conservatives.
It is far, FAR too early for conservative / republicans to list our parties ideas for the 2010 elections. Why would we EVER give the democrats extra months to attack these ideas? We all know that democrats are very good at attacking. But democrats are not very good at leading. (As proof, the democrats are passing a health bill that many democrats do not care for.)
If it is too early to cover our plans for 2010, we can however, connect with the American people who are leaving the progressive democrat party, by pointing out why we all are unhappy with this president and this congress.

I can only take a guess and say that democrats headed to DC thinking that ANY health bill would be better than nothing. But, to get this bill passed, they had to give "gifts" to each state. This caused the bill to become HUGE and it no longer does the stuff it set out to do. To be honest, I do not think anyone would cite them if democrats STOPPED this bill, reconnected with the people, and re-wrote this bill so that all of us could understand it. So that it has the things that progressives wanted. But, who the heck am I..?? Thanks for the comment..!! They are there again, while I couldn't afford to go this year, as I've been the victim of higher California State income taxes, higher state sales taxes, higher city sales taxes, increased government agency fees, a higher withholding ("borrowing" says the state) on State Income taxes, lower employment hours and have to start saving to pay someone else's medical bills.

Since the benifits of this bill do not take effect until 2014, yet people have to start paying for it TODAY...
I see a whole mess of pissed- off people after the mid-terms.
(Wait till people get their first income tax form with the $750 dollar tax / fine for NOT having health insurance..!!)

Yep...we think we know what the "fine" will be for not having it-unless they up it...is it per person in your family? How much will this crap cost us a month to be covered? What will it cover and what will it not? What will the deductibles be? The "bill" is passed and "being tweaked"....and ...blah...blah....blah!
What will they "change" and try to slip past us yet again?????

I hear that a lot from your side.
So the key will be the joining together, or merging of the two bills without removing the sections in the House Bill that progressives like.
Well, the next month or so will be very important for this health bill. Because I am sure that congress will want to get out there and start kissing babies and shaking hands and raising money for the mid terms.
It’s going to be tough. Some will not vote on it if in any way it covers abortion. Others will not vote if it doesn’t have the public option. Still, others will vote no if it HAS the public option. I have lost track of how many people are for this, and how many are for that.
Well, you know my stance on this. I would like to see them tear the whole thing up and start over.
(But they will never do that. There is no time to draft up a new bill from scratch, and get it passed before they have to start campaigning.)

Ask: Will President Obama “pardon” the Thanksgiving turkey?
Or will Barack Obama send the Thanksgiving turkey to New York City for a civilian trial, which will turn into a “circus” side-show trial?

It’s that time once again where we give advice to people who DO NOT WANT IT.
Democrats will not heed this advice.
They will shrug their shoulders and boast: “What the hell does he know? He is a stupid conservative who wants to kill baby ducks, and starve Black people, and kick old people out of nursing homes, and take health care away from sick children. WHAT COULD I POSSIBLY LEARN FROM THIS IDIOT..??”
Well, you could learn a few things because I am on the outside, looking in.
I am not seated inside the “Hope and Change” bus ride to hell.
So, I will offer this advice, EVEN IF no one ever reads it. Or heeds it.

If I were a democrat, I would:
Question WHY my democratically controlled congress FEELS the need to slip these health care bills in on a weekend, right before a holiday?
What’s up with that..??
Why be so freaking sneaky..??
Remember, this health care bill would (if passed) be with us FOREVER.
Isn’t the goal here to seriously reform the US health care system? Isn’t the REAL goal of this bill to make health insurance MORE affordable, to MORE people..??
Wouldn’t that be a GOOD THING..??
Then why all of the “smoke and mirrors”? Why must the “meat” of this bill be hidden within 2,000 pages of “stuff”?
Why must these bills be slipped in on a weekend, right before a holiday?
Forget republicans..!!
You do not need republicans to pass these bills, and republicans cannot stop these bills if democrats gang up against us.
Look at it this way…
If you helped write a congressional bill that will solve the health care “crisis” in America, wouldn’t you be proud of that achievement..??
If you wrote a bill that will really REALLY solve America’s health crisis, wouldn’t you want to explain to the American people why your bill will work. Wouldn’t you (and your fellow authors) form a committee and answer questions pertaining to this bill..?? Questions that we Americans have?
Why would you “hide” your health bill under the cover of 2,000 pages, and slip it into congress during a weekend, before a holiday?
Maybe, YOU, (the author of this bill) are not real sure about this bill? Maybe you are not proud of this bill? Maybe that is why you have to bribe fellow democratic senators with pork money to get them to sign it?

People, the senate is not voting to rename a post office, or some simple task like that.
The senate is voting on a bill that will effect each one of us. Once passed, this bill will be dam near impossible to fix, later on.
If I were a democrat, I would:
Ask; why hasn’t anyone in my party taken the responsibility to say: “This is my bill, I am proud of it, and I will answer any questions you have about this bill.”
(Because the dirty little secret is that YOU, the liberal, also have questions about this health care bill. You have concerns and you do not know who to ask?) Nor do I?
You, the liberal, are beginning to ask “why DO these bills have to be slipped into vote on the weekend right before the senate leaves for Thanksgiving?”
You, the liberal, are beginning to wonder why: “if this health care bill is so good, why did congress (The House of Representatives) have to sneak their bill in on Halloween, when many members of congress had plans to fly home and be with their kids on Halloween?
Because you are intelligent, you are asking yourself: “why hasn’t ANYONE; from President Obama, to Speaker Pelosi, to Sen. Reid, taken the time to fully explain what this bill will do? How much it will cost, and why there are no other options?”
If I were a democrat, I would:
Ask: Why the rush..?? The benefits of this bill do not take effect until 2013. Yet we have to pay for it NOW..?? Why can’t we, the democrats, have an honest debate about this bill?
If I were a democrat, I would:
Contact my Senator and STOP this bill.
You are not an evil republican who wants to STOP health care. You are a concerned American who has questions. We all have questions.
You would never buy a car without driving it. You would never sign a house mortgage without reading the agreement. (That’s how a lot of people got themselves in trouble with home loans.)
Yet, that is exactly what congress is asking you to do. Sit back, shut up, and do not ask any questions.
Is this the kind of America that we are “changing” to? Where we can’t even ask congress: “Hey, what is this $500 BILLION dollar cut to Medicare all about? How will it effect my Grandparents?”

Contact my senator and tell them to vote NO.
You can stop this bill.
I would tell my senator to go take his (or her) stupid vacation. I would tell my senator to pick this debate up in January when we can cut the pork from this bill. We can go over this bill- line by line, so that all of us Americans will have our questions answered. (Something that President Obama promised to do, but hasn’t gotten around to it.)

America has never had a woman president, and since no liberal woman will oppose President Obama in 2012, aren’t we actually giving Palin publicity?

A very scary Halloween story- WARNING
Gather around kids, this story is spooky.
It seemed like a good day in Washington DC.
Better that a good day, it was a GREAT- good day, really.
The police had arrested the swine flu.
With swine flu, locked safely behind bars, it really was a GREAT- good day.
However, people should have worried; they should have been filled with fear.
For, today was Halloween and the democrats had just released their Health Care Bill.
1,990 pages of pure hell, which all of congress MUST read. This bill listed everything from vending machine food safety- to how high a new tax will be on Granny’s next oxygen machine.
It was terrifying stuff.
But, people in the community never seemed to notice. “..Why would they..??”
After all, it was a GREAT- good day, it just felt right.
A GREAT day, that is, until day turned to night.
All of the children were snuggled in their beds.
While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.
When all of a sudden, from the lawn came such a clatter.
The children ran to the window to see what was the matter.
What they saw was so scary, the children started to run.
It was Florida’s democratic congressman: Rep. Alan Grayson.
With a DEEP, blood boiling voice, Grayson cried out in a roar:
“..I apologize to the DEAD. You K Street whore..”
The children ran to a closet, where they thought Grayson wouldn’t be.
But there was no hiding from The Grayson, he was on EVERY- TV..
“..Die quickly. K Street whore. I apologized to the dead..”
The words Grayson uttered was stuck in every child’s head.
The children huddled, as low as they could be.
One child look over, and shouted to me:
“..Kind sir, is there any way to kill this beast..?? Will he die..??”
“..Because Grayson is democratic, No, to say the least..” Was my reply.
“..If the Grayson were a republican, there might be a way..”
“The mainstream media would swoop in to save the day.”
CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, THE TIMES, NEWSWEEK, and all...
Would grab their cameras, pitchforks, torches, and wait for the republican to fall.
The republican wouldn’t stand a chance.
(Anyone remember Mark Foley..??)
But, because this beast is a democrat, he will live on.
To devour your intellect, until free- thought is gone.
THE END
So, the moral of this story is:
If you are a politician, and you happen to be:
A crook
Or a crook who hides $90,000 bucks of bribe money in your freezer.
Or, you are the King of Pork and love spending tax payers money:
or you happen to be a sex pervert:
Crooked politicians, should heed my words, before joining the Fed.
Join the democrats, live forever, as the “Living Dead.”
